The major news this week was horrible!
Once again, justice is denied for Black Americans. Breonna Taylor’s murderers were not charged! Unbelievable!!
Daniel Cameron, Kentucky Attorney General, decided that the only charge justified in her death was for fired Louisville police officer, Brett Hanikson. Hankinson was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment, which included him recklessly shooting into Breonna’s White neighbors’ apartment.
It seems White people get justice for their apartment walls before a Black woman can get justice for her death.
The charges came after six months of investigations from the March killing of Breonna Taylor by police officers executing a no-knock warrant. The officers arrived unannounced to her apartment and rammed through her door with guns blazing. The aftermath left Breonna shot five times and lying there dying for 20 minutes before any medical attention.
Multiple protests broke out all over the country after the announcement.
I must say that the opening scene is riveting. The camera follows a White horseman riding into a plantation with little shanty slave houses off to the side. A Black man is in shackles, a terrified Black woman is running away screaming, and another Black woman is shackled and slung over a horse.
The imagery and cinematography are breathtaking. The next few scenes play out in the kind of savagery we’ve seen in many other movies of this era, yet it makes for a dramatic opening.
The next long 30-40 minutes, we see our star, Janelle Monae looking perplexed and scared in the cotton field; before low and behold, she awakens in modern days.
She is Veronica Henley – a very successful author and public personality with a loving husband and a curious, cute little daughter. She has funny friends like Becky from Empire, oops excuse me, Gabourey Sidibe, who quite possibly steals the movie.
Antebellum has one of the best concepts and storylines I can remember. It is just too bad the creative duo of directors’ and screenwriters’, Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, fell short of the high expectations that the audience would expect from such an idealistic plot.
Multi- talented – Janelle Monae gives a worthy performance but misses delivering the solid acting needed to pull off the two dynamic worlds.
In conclusion, most people would enjoy the action-packed ending because they could say they survived through until the end.
She is an Singer, Songwriter, Fashion Icon, and a Philanthropist. While we were awaiting her next album, Rihanna was a busy lady. She was creating FENTY BEAUTY.
Fenty (stylized as FEИTY) is a fashion house founded by Rihanna under the luxury fashion group LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) which was founded in 2017 and launched in May 2019. The fashion label made Rihanna the first woman and also the first of color to be added on the LVMH group.

What I admire the most about Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty is her giving heart, specifically her outspokenness for the Black Lives Matter Movement and The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF). The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) was founded in 2012 by Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
CLF supports and funds groundbreaking and effective education, health and emergency response programs around the world. With the voices of Rihanna and her fans, CLF also engages in global advocacy with the goal of improving the quality of life for young people everywhere.
